HOW CAN MANY TEENAGERS FALL INTO DIFFERENT KINDS OF PEER PRESSURE ALL THE TIME?

Updated: Feb 2, 2020

By Celina Mouret

Nowadays, many teenagers fall into peer pressure while seeking things in wrong places. Helping them realize that they are looking for the wrong answers in the incorrect places can help us lower the amount of problems that these cause and make this world a better place for everyone.

According to Weebly statistics, only a 10% of the teenagers who have been surveyed have said no as they are faced with peer pressure, and a 28% have stated that they have accepted it because of the social standing they would receive by others while accepting, or giving in to peer pressure. Half of the teenagers who were interviewed said that they would easily make other give in to peer pressure after falling in it themselves. This is not good because that makes more and more teenagers fall each time. In fact, this just happened to one of my friends.

We were together at a part just like any other weekend, and we were dancing around, talking with guys... We were having a blast. Then out of no where, a really cute guy came around and started talking to us. We had never met him, but we had seen his profile on Instagram. As we were chatting, one of his friends came and gave him a cigarette. He asked if we wanted to try it. We both said no. As the night went by, he kept on insisting if we wanted anything to drink or if we wanted to go to a darker place, where no one would se us, and that way “be more comfortable”. Of course I said no and I started to tell my friend that we should leave, that it was getting late. Since she liked the boy she didn’t want to, so I left and went with other friends. Before we could even realize it, this guy got my friend drunk, she is now addicted to smoking and she never stops insisting and says that we should smoke and drink. It actually gets frustrating sometimes. God knows what other things she did that night, and only because of a cute guy.

Of course this is only a mild example of what could happen because of falling into peer pressure. There are other examples with less severe consequences.
